EXPERIENCE

Employer:Night Sky Team (NPS/CSU/CIRA)- CSU Foothills Campus, Astro Image/Data Specialist, Ft. C
Duration: November 14, 2009  May 14, 2010 (6-month CSU contract),  Chad Moore- 831-262-8594

Job Duties: Finished project of trouble-shot VBS scripts in ACP Observatory Control Software, operating
2 PC's simultaneously. Correcting for vignetting, cosmetic and production differences in the CCD chip,
as well as removing, natural and or anthropogenic light pollution to produce scientific and valid digital
imagery.  Maxim DL, Hugin, ArcView 3.3, Photoshop 7, Thumb+7/8 ArcView 3.2, ArcGIS 8, 9.2, 9.3. Then
scripts were run in ArcView 3.3 to produce a contour/isophotoic graph which included azimuth/altitude
grids, cities, magnitude/color legend and produced either, 'Net Light Pollution' or Total Sky Brightness'
graphic datasets. Implementing step-by-step documentation on these system procedures for future
referencing.

By using HUGIN software and  automated project scripts written by Dan Drisco & Chad Moore,
panoramic and polar images were produced from TIFs (from FITS imagery) images to produce a
graphic containing terrain and the night sky. These images were then overlaid on the aforementioned
products, using Photoshop 5 &Thumbsplus 7 for comparative analysis and then published on the web.
Please note: At the time of this writing, this is preliminary data and not yet ready for publication.
Check U.S. map for examples:  On the Fighting Light Pollution pages. Using Google Earth 'Sketch-Up'
software, I developed a 3-D method of displaying any hi-resolution 'stitched' imagery within a hemisphere,
then produced more than 150 datasets. The viewer may examine the imagery outside of the hemisphere
to get an overall feel or may 'travel' inside, where the terrain matches the graphics.
